I appreciate your support and response to all that's going on today. That being said, I will note that I have both good insurance and bosses who actually care about my work/ life balance and who are understanding with the tasks I need to do and the tough customers I help every day. I note this because I work at Whole Foods. I've worked in grocery stores for a few years and they've treated us better than any other where i haveI worked. I'm not sure how things will change with Amazon having taken over. Some coworkers are filled with trepidation at that change. I just know I do a good job and I get great reviews and raises which is also more than I can say for my other workplaces. I'm just putting this out there because I'm a working person who cares about people. I have some health issues that also make me appreciate my insurance. Just letting you know some folks who work for the man are kind and empathetic. And doing our best.

Hi Jennifer. Thank you so much for this perspective. I am grateful. Honestly - what I once liked about Whole Foods was how NICE everyone was. And not fake nice, but genuinely seemed to be people who were serious about the power of good food to grow and sustain communities. I stopped having that kind of experience a few years ago, sadly, and every time I went into my local store, I missed that sense of community. My mom started having the same changed experience where she lives, as well, so we both chalked it up to the Amazon changes. But of course you are correct that LOTS of people involved in those corporations are empathic and caring and doing their best. I’m very grateful you felt willing to share your perspective here. Thank you. And as someone who also has some health concerns (beyond my current viral load), I am so glad to know you have good insurance coverage. It’s literally the stuff of life. Sending you positive energy and continued resiliency. 💚

Thank you. And love you, and your empathy, regardless of where it may come from or what it may serve. That rejection letter was amazing, as was, I am sure, your application. Taking your relationship to winter thoughts to heart. Not because of the weather where I am now, obviously, but in preparation for facing the return to the PNW weather in a better headspace than I left it. 💚

Thank you Scott! And thanks for all the work you’re doing! I’m not exaggerating - your reframe was just exactly what I needed after spending a few weeks totally in reactivity / despair mode. It’s been a game changer!!

Really hope you start feeling better. Enjoyed your list of 10. I don’t know anything about asking for help, but since it sounds like you have someone you could ask…. you should. I’m not sure there are awards for sticking it out alone rather than accepting help. Be grateful someone is there to ask; maybe worry less about what it looks like to ask. Be gentle with yourself.

Hi Amy! Thanks for your wisdom here! I know you’re right - just acknowledging that it’s a hard space for me! I appreciate your time and reflection, and, since I’m not getting any better (yet!), perhaps I’ll have a chance still to practice asking for help! ❤️‍🩹

And I’m looking forward to reading your Sunday essay - it’s why I opened the app!! 📃
